The Trouble with Harry

The news these days talks a lot about Prince Harry, the younger son of England’s King Charles III. The press follows him as he turns the spotlight on the embarrassing secrets of the royal family.

这几天的新闻谈论了很多关于英国国王查尔斯三世的小儿子哈利王子的事情。当他把焦点转向王室令人尴尬的秘密时，媒体也关注着他。

His tell-all book, Spare, sold out on the first day. No surprise. Who wouldn’t want a drool-worthy, eyelid-raising look at the skeletons in the imperial closet?

他的自传《备胎》第一天就卖光了。不奇怪。谁不想看一看令人垂涎三尺、瞠目结舌的皇室秘闻呢?

And the irony of it? A bit of Krishna Consciousness could have stopped it all.

这是不是讽刺？一点点奎师那知觉就能阻止这一切。

Harry’s mad as hell. And he  admits it. He bristles at being shoved aside  to make way for big brother William (or Will). Yes. Will, the future king, the big wheel, goes before Harry, the spare tire in the trunk.

哈利的愤怒就像地狱一样。他承认了这一点。他对被推到一边为哥哥威廉（或威尔）让路感到愤怒。是的，威尔，未来的国王、重要的人，在哈利的前面。而哈利只是后备箱里的备胎。

How to Mess Up a Kid
如何毁掉一个孩子

Two children at breakfast: Will, the future king, gets three sausages. Harry gets two.

两个孩子在吃早餐：未来的国王威尔得到了三根香肠。哈利得了两根。

Now tell me if that ain’t a sure way to mess up a kid.

现在告诉我这是否是一个毁掉孩子的最佳办法。

(But maybe Harry should have smiled at getting only two pieces of bad karma instead of Will’s three.)

All right. But what does Krishna Consciousness have to do with it?

好吧。但这和奎师那知觉有什么关系？

First of all, the royal family heads the Church of England. Supposedly spiritual leaders. Oh yeah? Do they even know the difference between the body and the person within?

首先，王室是英国教会的领袖。据说是灵性领袖。哦是吗？实际上他们知道躯体和灵魂（住在躯体里面的人）的区别吗？

Will and Harry may look like  a king-to-be and his less worthy brother.

威尔和哈利可能看起来像一个未来的国王和他没那么出色的弟弟。

But are they?

但他们是吗？

No More Than a Mortal Body?
仅仅是会死的躯体吗？

Does a person amount to no more than a mortal body? What about the eternal soul living in the heart?

一个人仅仅是一具会死的躯体吗？那住在心中的永恒灵魂呢？

Krishna starts out with this topic in the Bhagavad-Gita:

奎师那在《博伽梵歌》里以这个主题开始：

”As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change.” (2:13)
”就像灵魂在躯体里经历童年、青年和老年的变化一样，当这个躯体死亡时，灵魂便会进入另一个躯体。清醒的人不会被这种变化所迷惑。”（2.13）

And again:

再一次：

“That which pervades the entire body you should know to be indestructible. No one is able to destroy that imperishable soul.” (2.17)
“你应该知道，遍布整个躯体的灵魂是不可毁灭的。没有人能够毁灭不朽的灵魂。”（2.17）

And Will and Harry? Two eternal souls going from body to body. Presently, they happen to come together as brothers. Next life? Who knows? And if you see them as souls, who can say that one rises above the other?

威尔和哈利呢？两个永恒的灵魂从一个身体到另外一个身体。现在，他们碰巧以兄弟的身份走到了一起。那下辈子呢？谁知道？如果你把他们看作灵魂，谁能说一个高于另一个呢？

Krishna Chose the Third
奎师那选择了第三个

And Krishna spoke the Bhagavad-Gita to Prince Arjuna, the third-born of five brothers. Why not to King Yudisthir, the first-born?

奎师那对阿尔诸纳宣讲了《博伽梵歌》。他是一个王子，在五兄弟中排行第三。为什么不讲给长子尤迪士缇尔王呢？

The royal family may say the first-born always prevails, but Krishna chose the third.  And Krishna drove the chariot of the prince, not the king.

王室可能会说长子永远占上风，但奎师那选择了第三个。奎师那驾驭着王子的战车，而不是国王的。

But why did Krishna choose Arjuna, the third-born?
但奎师那为什么选择了排行第三的阿尔诸那呢?

”That very ancient science of the relationship with the Supreme is today told by Me to you because you are My devotee as well as My friend and can therefore understand the transcendental mystery of this science.” (4.3)
“我今天向你讲述与至尊者的关系这门古老的科学，因为你既是我的奉献者，也是我的朋友，因此你能理解这门科学的超然奥秘。”(4.3)

But all five brothers loved Krishna as devotees and friends. Then why Arjuna?

但五兄弟都爱奎师那，是他的奉献者和朋友。那为什么是阿尔诸那？

What Can Harry Learn?
哈利能学到什么?

I can’t say. But let the royal family take the lesson: The measure of a person’s worth goes beyond his position in the family or in the royal hierarchy.

难说。但让王室吸取教训吧：衡量一个人的价值，不仅仅是他在家族或王室等级制度中的地位。

But why just the royal family? Let the whole world take this lesson.

但为什么只有王室呢？让全世界都吸取这个教训。

And does Harry have anything to learn?

哈利有没有需要学习的？  

Well, Arjuna readied himself to walk into a fire just to protect the reputation of   King Ugrasena, of the city of Dvarka. Harry, the destroyer of reputations, could sure learn something from that.

阿尔诸那准备好了走进火里，只是为了保护杜瓦尔卡的乌卦森那王的声誉。哈利，这个名誉的毁坏者，肯定能从中学到一些东西。

(Krishna stopped Arjuna and solved the problem a different way. But that’s another topic.)

（奎师那阻止了阿尔诸那，用不同的方式解决了问题。但这是另一个话题。）
