I came across these lines on the internet the other day. So God makes the trees? Well he does, doesn\u2019t he?
\u524d\u51e0\u5929\u6211\u5728\u7f51\u4e0a\u770b\u5230\u4e86\u8fd9\u4e9b\u8bd7\u53e5\u3002\u6240\u4ee5\u4e0a\u5e1d\u771f\u7684\u521b\u9020\u4e86\u6811\u6728\u5417\uff1f\u662f\u7684\uff0c\u4ed6\u786e\u5b9e\u505a\u5230\u4e86\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hmm. Maybe Kilmer was on to something. \u00a0After all, I had always taken trees for granted.
\u6216\u8bb8\u57fa\u5c14\u9ed8\u53d1\u73b0\u4e86\u4ec0\u4e48\u3002\u6bd5\u7adf\uff0c\u6211\u4e00\u76f4\u8ba4\u4e3a\u6811\u6728\u662f\u7406\u6240\u5f53\u7136\u7684\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I began to wonder about trees and\u00a0 Krishna. And I even learned something about the planets.
\u6211\u5f00\u59cb\u8003\u8651\u6811\u6728\u548c\u594e\u5e08\u90a3\u662f\u4ec0\u4e48\u5173\u7cfb\u3002\u6211\u751a\u81f3\u5b66\u5230\u4e86\u4e00\u4e9b\u5173\u4e8e\u884c\u661f\u7684\u77e5\u8bc6\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(By the way, does the name Joyce sound feminine to your ear? But it \u00a0belonged to a handsome young American man, a prolific poet. \u00a0He died in France at the age of thirty-one fighting in World War I.)
\uff08\u987a\u4fbf\u63d0\u4e00\u4e0b\uff0c\u4e54\u4f0a\u65af\u8fd9\u4e2a\u540d\u5b57\u542c\u8d77\u6765\u662f\u4e0d\u662f\u5f88\u5973\u6027\u5316\uff1f\u4f46\u5b83\u5c5e\u4e8e\u4e00\u4f4d\u5e74\u8f7b\u82f1\u4fca\u7684\u7f8e\u56fd\u7537\u4eba\uff0c\u4e00\u4f4d\u591a\u4ea7\u7684\u8bd7\u4eba\u3002\u4ed6\u5728\u4e00\u6218\u4e2d\u727a\u7272\u4e8e\u6cd5\u56fd\uff0c\u5e74\u4ec531 \u5c81\u3002\uff09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But getting back to God making trees, my thoughts turned to a narrative about the great devotee Narada Muni. He never stops moving, going here and there in the material and spiritual worlds. He has no restrictions.
\u56de\u5230\u4e0a\u5e1d\u521b\u9020\u6811\u6728\u7684\u8bdd\u9898\uff0c\u6211\u60f3\u5230\u4e86\u4f1f\u5927\u7684\u5949\u732e\u8005\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u00b7\u7a46\u5c3c\u3002\u4ed6\u4e0d\u505c\u5730\u5728\u7269\u8d28\u4e16\u754c\u548c\u7075\u6027\u4e16\u754c\u4e4b\u95f4\u7a7f\u68ad\uff0c\u65e0\u62d8\u65e0\u675f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He carries his veena, a stringed instrument, to play while he constantly sings the names of the Lord.
\u4ed6\u5e26\u7740\u4ed6\u7684\u7ef4\u7eb3\u2014\u2014\u4e00\u79cd\u5f26\u4e50\u5668\uff0c\u4e00\u8fb9\u5f39\u594f\uff0c\u4e00\u8fb9\u4e0d\u65ad\u5730\u5531\u8bf5\u4e3b\u7684\u540d\u5b57\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Will I Be Saved?
\u6211\u4f55\u65f6\u624d\u80fd\u5f97\u5230\u7075\u6027\u7684\u6551\u8d4e\uff1f<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One day,\u00a0 as Narada was about to set off for the spiritual world, he met a brahmana priest. \u201cAre you going to meet the Lord?\u201d asked the brahmana. \u201cWill you please ask him when I will get my salvation.\u201d
\u6709\u4e00\u5929\uff0c\u5f53\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u51c6\u5907\u524d\u5f80\u7075\u6027\u4e16\u754c\u65f6\uff0c\u9047\u5230\u4e86\u4e00\u4f4d\u5a46\u7f57\u95e8\u796d\u53f8\u3002\u201c\u4f60\u8981\u89c1\u4e3b\u5417\uff1f\u201d\u5a46\u7f57\u95e8\u95ee\u9053\uff0c\u201c\u8bf7\u95ee\u95ee\u4ed6\uff0c\u6211\u4f55\u65f6\u80fd\u5f97\u5230\u6551\u8d4e\u3002\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll right,\u201d said Narada. \u201cI will ask Him\u201d
\u201c\u597d\u7684\uff0c\u201d\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u8bf4\uff0c\u201c\u6211\u4f1a\u95ee\u4ed6\u7684\u3002\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Narada went on his way, playing his veena and singing Krishna\u2019s names, he met a cobbler \u00a0sitting under a large banyan tree mending shoes. \u201cAre you are going to see God?\u201d asked the cobbler. \u201cWill you please ask him when my salvation will come.\u201d
\u5f53\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u5f39\u7740\u4ed6\u7684\u7ef4\u7eb3\uff0c\u5531\u7740\u594e\u5e08\u90a3\u7684\u540d\u5b57\u524d\u5f80\u7075\u6027\u4e16\u754c\u7684\u9014\u4e2d\uff0c\u4ed6\u9047\u5230\u4e86\u4e00\u4f4d\u978b\u5320\uff0c\u4ed6\u5728\u4e00\u68f5\u5927\u6995\u6811\u4e0b\u4fee\u8865\u978b\u5b50\u3002\u201c\u4f60\u8981\u53bb\u89c1\u4e0a\u5e1d\u5417\uff1f\u201d\u978b\u5320\u95ee\u9053\uff0c\u201c\u8bf7\u5e2e\u6211\u95ee\u95ee\u6211\u7684\u6551\u8d4e\u4f55\u65f6\u4f1a\u5230\u6765\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Narada Muni arrived in the spiritual Vaikuntha planets, he \u00a0asked Narayana, the Lord, about the brahmana and the cobbler.
\u5f53\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u5230\u8fbe\u7075\u6027\u5916\u6606\u5854\u661f\u7403\u65f6\uff0c\u4ed6\u5411\u4e3b\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u592e\u7eb3\u8be2\u95ee\u4e86\u5a46\u7f57\u95e8\u548c\u978b\u5320\u7684\u4e8b\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe cobbler will come here to me when he leaves his present body,\u201d said Narayana.
\u201c\u978b\u5320\u5728\u79bb\u5f00\u73b0\u5728\u7684\u8eaf\u4f53\u540e\u4f1a\u6765\u5230\u6211\u8fd9\u91cc\uff0c\u201d\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u592e\u7eb3\u8bf4\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat about the brahmana?\u201d Narada asked.
\u201c\u90a3\u5a46\u7f57\u95e8\u5462\uff1f\u201d\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u95ee\u9053\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe will have to remain there for many births,\u201d said Narayana. \u201cI do not even know when he will come.\u201d
\u201c\u4ed6\u5f97\u518d\u7ecf\u5386\u5f88\u591a\u6b21\u51fa\u751f\uff0c\u201d\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u592e\u7eb3\u8bf4\uff0c\u201c\u6211\u751a\u81f3\u4e0d\u77e5\u9053\u4ed6\u4f55\u65f6\u4f1a\u6765\u3002\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d thought Narada.\u201cHow can this happen? How can a cobbler attain liberation before a brahmana?\u201d
\u201c\u4ec0\u4e48\uff1f\u201d\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u5fc3\u60f3\uff1a\u201c\u8fd9\u600e\u4e48\u53ef\u80fd\uff1f\u4e00\u4e2a\u978b\u5320\u600e\u4e48\u53ef\u80fd\u6bd4\u5a46\u7f57\u95e8\u66f4\u65e9\u5f97\u5230\u89e3\u8131\uff1f\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He turned to the Lord. \u00a0\u201cI can\u2019t understand this mystery,\u201d he said.
\u4ed6\u8f6c\u5411\u4e3b\u8bf4\uff1a\u201c\u6211\u65e0\u6cd5\u7406\u89e3\u8fd9\u4e2a\u5965\u79d8\u3002\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pulling an Elephant through the Eye of a Needle
\u5c06\u5927\u8c61\u7a7f\u8fc7\u9488\u773c<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou will see,\u201d said Narayana. \u201cThey will \u00a0ask what I was doing. Then tell them I was threading the eye of a needle with an elephant.\u201d
\u201c\u4f60\u4f1a\u77e5\u9053\u7684\u201d\uff0c\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u592e\u7eb3\u8bf4\uff1a\u201c\u4ed6\u4eec\u4f1a\u95ee\uff0c\u6211\u5728\u505a\u4ec0\u4e48\u3002\u4f60\u5c31\u544a\u8bc9\u4ed6\u4eec\uff0c\u6211\u6b63\u5728\u628a\u4e00\u5934\u5927\u8c61\u7a7f\u8fc7\u9488\u773c\u3002\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narada returned to earth and met the brahmana. \u201cHave you seen the Lord?\u201d asked the brahmana. \u201cWhat was he doing?\u201d
\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u56de\u5230\u5730\u7403\uff0c\u89c1\u5230\u4e86\u5a46\u7f57\u95e8\u3002\u201c\u4f60\u89c1\u8fc7\u4e3b\u4e86\u5417\uff1f\u201d\u5a46\u7f57\u95e8\u95ee\u9053\uff0c\u201c\u4ed6\u5728\u505a\u4ec0\u4e48\uff1f\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe was threading an elephant through the eye of a needle,\u201d said Narada.
\u201c\u4ed6\u6b63\u5728\u628a\u4e00\u5934\u5927\u8c61\u7a7f\u8fc7\u9488\u773c\uff0c\u201d\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u8bf4\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat nonsense!\u201d said the brahmana \u201cI don\u2019t believe it.\u201d
\u201c\u80e1\u8bf4\u516b\u9053\uff01\u201d\u5a46\u7f57\u95e8\u8bf4\uff0c\u201c\u6211\u4e0d\u76f8\u4fe1\u3002\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narada understood: \u00a0The brahmana had no faith. \u00a0All he could do was read books.
\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u660e\u767d\u4e86\uff1a\u8fd9\u4e2a\u5a46\u7f57\u95e8\u6ca1\u6709\u4fe1\u5fc3\u3002\u4ed6\u80fd\u505a\u7684\u53ea\u662f\u8bfb\u4e66\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narada went on to meet the cobbler under the banyan tree. \u201cHave you seen the Lord?\u201d asked the cobbler. \u201cTell me, What was he doing?\u201d
\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u63a5\u7740\u53bb\u627e\u6995\u6811\u4e0b\u7684\u978b\u5320\u3002\u201c\u4f60\u89c1\u8fc7\u4e3b\u4e86\u5417\uff1f\u201d\u4ed6\u95ee\u9053\uff0c\u201c\u544a\u8bc9\u6211\uff0c\u4ed6\u5728\u505a\u4ec0\u4e48\uff1f\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe was threading an elephant through the eye of a needle,\u201d Narada replied.
\u201c\u4ed6\u6b63\u5728\u5c06\u4e00\u5934\u5927\u8c61\u7a7f\u8fc7\u9488\u773c\uff0c\u201d\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u56de\u7b54\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cobbler began to weep. \u201cOh, my Lord is so wonderful,\u201d he said through his tears. \u201cHe can do anything.\u201d
\u978b\u5320\u5f00\u59cb\u54ed\u6ce3\u3002\u4ed6\u773c\u542b\u6cea\u6c34\u8bf4\u9053\u201c\u54e6\uff0c\u6211\u7684\u4e3b\u592a\u5947\u5999\u4e86\uff0c\u4ed6\u65e0\u6240\u4e0d\u80fd\u3002\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou mean you believe it?\u201d asked Narada. \u201cYou believe the Lord can push an elephant through the eye of a needle?\u201d
\u201c\u4f60\u662f\u8bf4\u4f60\u76f8\u4fe1\u5417\uff1f\u201d\u7eb3\u62c9\u8fbe\u95ee\u9053\uff0c\u201c\u4f60\u76f8\u4fe1\u4e3b\u80fd\u8ba9\u5927\u8c61\u7a7f\u8fc7\u9488\u773c\uff1f\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy not?\u201d said the cobbler. \u201cOf course I believe it.\u201d
\u201c\u4e3a\u4ec0\u4e48\u4e0d\u76f8\u4fe1\uff1f\u201d\u978b\u5320\u8bf4\uff0c\u201c\u6211\u5f53\u7136\u76f8\u4fe1\u3002\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHow is that?\u201d
\u201c\u4f60\u600e\u4e48\u4f1a\u76f8\u4fe1\u5462\uff1f\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs I sit under this banyan tree,\u201d said the cobbler, \u201cI see figs fall from the branches every day. And each fig has many little seeds. And each seed contains \u00a0a banyan tree like this large, spacious tree we\u2019re sitting under.
\u201c\u5f53\u6211\u5750\u5728\u8fd9\u68f5\u6995\u6811\u4e0b\uff0c\u201d\u978b\u5320\u8bf4\uff0c\u201c\u6211\u770b\u5230\u65e0\u82b1\u679c\u6bcf\u5929\u90fd\u4ece\u6811\u679d\u4e0a\u6389\u4e0b\u6765\u3002\u6bcf\u4e2a\u65e0\u82b1\u679c\u90fd\u6709\u8bb8\u591a\u5c0f\u79cd\u5b50\u3002\u6bcf\u4e00\u7c92\u79cd\u5b50\u91cc\u90fd\u6709\u4e00\u68f5\u6995\u6811\uff0c\u5c31\u50cf\u6211\u4eec\u5750\u5728\u4e0b\u9762\u7684\u8fd9\u68f5\u5927\u6995\u6811\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis big spreading tree,\u00a0 and it came out of a seed no bigger than a pinhead. So if the Lord can put such a big tree into a tiny seed, why can\u2019t he thread an elephant through the eye of a needle?\u201d

So this is called faith. It is not a question of blindly believing. There is reason behind the belief. If Krishna can put large trees inside little seeds, is it so astounding that He is keeping all the planetary systems floating in space through His energy? (Raja Vidya)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And speaking of banyan trees, did you know that a banyan listened in when\u00a0 Krishna spoke the Bhagavad-Gita?
\u8bf4\u5230\u6995\u6811\uff0c\u4f60\u77e5\u9053\u5728\u594e\u5e08\u90a3\u8bb2\u8ff0\u300a\u535a\u4f3d\u68b5\u6b4c\u300b\u65f6\uff0c\u6709\u4e00\u68f5\u6995\u6811\u4e5f\u5728\u542c\u5417\uff1f<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes. It came as a surprise to me too. I already knew that as the Battle of Kurukshetra was about to begin, Krishna drove the chariot between the two armies. But I didn\u2019t know \u00a0that he stopped \u00a0next to a banyan tree, where he spoke the Bhagavad-Gita to the distraught Arjuna.
\u662f\u7684\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e5f\u8ba9\u6211\u611f\u5230\u60ca\u8bb6\u3002\u6211\u5df2\u7ecf\u77e5\u9053\uff0c\u5728\u5e93\u8339\u4e4b\u91ce\u4e4b\u6218\u5373\u5c06\u5f00\u59cb\u65f6\uff0c\u594e\u5e08\u90a3\u9a7e\u9a76\u6218\u8f66\u5728\u4e24\u519b\u4e4b\u95f4\u3002\u4f46\u6211\u5e76\u4e0d\u77e5\u9053\uff0c\u7942\u5728\u4e00\u68f5\u6995\u6811\u65c1\u8fb9\u505c\u4e86\u4e0b\u6765\uff0c\u5728\u90a3\u91cc\u7942\u5411\u5fc3\u70e6\u610f\u4e71\u7684\u963f\u5c14\u8bf8\u90a3\u8bb2\u8ff0\u4e86\u300a\u535a\u4f3d\u68b5\u6b4c\u300b\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five thousand years later, the tree still stands at that spot, now known as Jyotisar, \u2018The Essence of Light.\u2019 And you can go there too. \u00a0Just take the train from Delhi to Kurukshetra, the same as I did.
\u4e94\u5343\u5e74\u540e\uff0c\u8fd9\u68f5\u6811\u4ecd\u7136\u5c79\u7acb\u5728\u90a3\u91cc\uff0c\u73b0\u5728\u88ab\u79f0\u4e3a\u201c\u5149\u4e4b\u7cbe\u7cb9\u201d\u3002\u4f60\u4e5f\u53ef\u4ee5\u53bb\u90a3\u91cc\u3002\u548c\u6211\u4e00\u6837\uff0c\u4ece\u5fb7\u91cc\u5750\u706b\u8f66\u5230\u5e93\u8339\u4e4b\u91ce\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And you can go into the town and visit the Birla temple with its white stone carving of the chariot pulled by horses while Arjuna and Krishna sit in their seats. And go inside and bow to the life-size carving of Arjuna kneeling while Krishna speaks the Bhagavad-Gita.
\u7136\u540e\u4f60\u53ef\u4ee5\u8fdb\u57ce\u53c2\u89c2\u6bd4\u5c14\u62c9\u795e\u5e99\uff0c\u90a3\u91cc\u6709\u963f\u5c13\u8bf8\u90a3\u548c\u594e\u5e08\u90a3\u5750\u5728\u6218\u8f66\u4e0a\u7684\u767d\u8272\u77f3\u96d5\u3002\u8d70\u8fdb\u53bb\uff0c\u5411\u8dea\u7740\u542c\u300a\u535a\u4f3d\u68b5\u6b4c\u300b\u7684\u771f\u4eba\u5927\u5c0f\u7684\u963f\u5c13\u8bf8\u90a3\u7684\u5f62\u4f53\u9876\u62dc\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then \u00a0go next door to a temple not big enough to walk into and stand in the doorway to look at the big smiles on the faces of the little-boy devotee Dhruva Maharaja and the Supreme Lord, Narayana, as they face each other.
\u4e4b\u540e\uff0c\u4f60\u53ef\u4ee5\u53bb\u9547\u4e2d\u5fc3\u53c2\u89c2\u592a\u9633\u795e\u82cf\u5c14\u4e9a\u00b7\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u592e\u7eb3\u7684\u5e99\u3002\u7136\u540e\u53bb\u9694\u58c1\u4e00\u4e2a\u5c0f\u5230\u65e0\u6cd5\u8fdb\u5165\u7684\u5e99\uff0c\u7ad9\u5728\u95e8\u53e3\uff0c\u770b\u5c0f\u7537\u5b69\u5949\u732e\u8005\u6731\u74e6\u00b7\u739b\u54c8\u8339\u963f\u54f2\u548c\u81f3\u5c0a\u4e3b\u7eb3\u8339\u963f\u592e\u7eb3\u9762\u5bf9\u9762\u65f6\u8138\u4e0a\u7684\u707f\u70c2\u7b11\u5bb9\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now let\u2019s take the train back to Delhi and hop on a plane eastward all the way to \u00a0Jagannath Puri on the Bay of Bengal.
\u73b0\u5728\u8ba9\u6211\u4eec\u5750\u706b\u8f66\u56de\u5fb7\u91cc\uff0c\u7136\u540e\u4e58\u98de\u673a\u5411\u4e1c\u98de\u5f80\u5b5f\u52a0\u62c9\u6e7e\u7684\u8d3e\u683c\u7eb3\u7279\u00b7\u666e\u745e\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After we visit the ISKCON temple, we\u2019ll walk a bit to see a miraculous tree called Siddha Bakula. \u201cSiddha\u201d means perfect, and the bakula tree\u2019s English name is Spanish cherry or bulletwood. A tall evergreen, it produces fragrant flowers and edible fruit also used as medicine.
\u53c2\u89c2\u5b8c ISKCON \u5e99\u540e\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u4f1a\u8d70\u4e00\u70b9\u8def\u53bb\u770b\u4e00\u68f5\u53eb\u5e0c\u8fbe\u00b7\u5df4\u5e93\u62c9\u7684\u795e\u5947\u7684\u6811\u3002\u201c\u5e0c\u8fbe\u201d\u610f\u5473\u7740\u5b8c\u7f8e\uff0c\u5df4\u5e93\u62c9\u6811\u7684\u82f1\u6587\u540d\u662f\u897f\u73ed\u7259\u6a31\u6843\u6216\u5b50\u5f39\u6728\u3002\u8fd9\u662f\u4e00\u79cd\u9ad8\u5927\u7684\u5e38\u9752\u6811\uff0c\u5f00\u7740\u82ac\u82b3\u7684\u82b1\u6735\uff0c\u679c\u5b9e\u53ef\u98df\u7528\uff0c\u4e5f\u53ef\u5165\u836f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Toothbrush for God
\u7ed9\u4e0a\u5e1d\u7259\u5237<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One day, the priests at the temple of Jagannatha offered a bakula twig to the Lord for a toothbrush.
\u6709\u4e00\u5929\uff0c\u8d3e\u683c\u7eb3\u7279\u5e99\u7684\u796d\u53f8\u4eec\u7ed9\u4e3b\u4f9b\u5949\u4e86\u4e00\u6839\u5df4\u5e93\u62c9\u6811\u679d\u4f5c\u4e3a\u7259\u5237\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWait!\u201d you say. \u201cA toothbrush for God? What could the Supreme Lord of all the universes ever want with a toothbrush? Toothbrushes are for creatures like us who have teeth and eat food.\u201d
\u201c\u7b49\u7b49\uff01\u201d\u4f60\u8bf4\uff0c\u201c\u7ed9\u4e0a\u5e1d\u7684\u7259\u5237\uff1f\u5b87\u5b99\u81f3\u9ad8\u65e0\u4e0a\u7684\u4e3b\u600e\u4e48\u4f1a\u9700\u8981\u7259\u5237\uff1f\u7259\u5237\u662f\u7ed9\u50cf\u6211\u4eec\u8fd9\u6837\u6709\u7259\u9f7f\u548c\u5403\u4e1c\u897f\u7684\u751f\u7269\u7528\u7684\u3002\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ah, my friend, but aren\u2019t you forgetting something? Krishna also has teeth, and Krishna also eats. Why not offer him the comfort of a toothbrush? It\u2019s the least we can do.
\u554a\uff0c\u6211\u7684\u670b\u53cb\uff0c\u4f46\u4f60\u662f\u4e0d\u662f\u5fd8\u4e86\u4ec0\u4e48\u4e86\uff1f\u594e\u5e08\u90a3\u4e5f\u6709\u7259\u9f7f\uff0c\u594e\u5e08\u90a3\u4e5f\u5403\u4e1c\u897f\u3002\u4e3a\u4ec0\u4e48\u4e0d\u7ed9\u4ed6\u4e00\u628a\u8212\u9002\u7684\u7259\u5237\u5462\uff1f\u8fd9\u662f\u6211\u4eec\u6700\u8d77\u7801\u80fd\u505a\u7684\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, the priests gave the bakula toothbrush to Lord Chaitanya as\u00a0prasad<\/em>\u00a0or mercy. Temple priests give objects like clothes or toothbrushes used by Krishna to devotees as prasad to use or worship or even eat.\u00a0 Yes, devotees also eat prasad, foodstuffs previously offered to Krishna.
\u540e\u6765\uff0c\u796d\u53f8\u4eec\u5c06\u5df4\u5e93\u62c9\u7259\u5237\u4f5c\u4e3a\u666e\u6c99\u5f97\u6216\u4ec1\u6148\uff0c\u9001\u7ed9\u4e86\u4e3b\u67f4\u5766\u5c3c\u4e9a\u3002\u5e99\u5b87\u796d\u53f8\u4eec\u5c06\u594e\u5e08\u90a3\u7528\u8fc7\u7684\u8863\u670d\u3001\u7259\u5237\u7b49\u7b49\u4f5c\u4e3a\u666e\u6c99\u5f97\u9001\u7ed9\u5949\u732e\u8005\u4f7f\u7528\u3001\u5d07\u62dc\u751a\u81f3\u98df\u7528\u3002\u662f\u7684\uff0c\u5949\u732e\u8005\u4e5f\u5403\u666e\u6c99\u5f97\uff0c\u5373\u4f9b\u5949\u8fc7\u7ed9\u594e\u5e08\u90a3\u7684\u98df\u7269\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when you go to Jagannath Puri, don\u2019t forget to feast on some of Lord Jagannatha\u2019s prasad. You may have to pay someone a few rupees to get it for you, though, as only native-born Hindus may enter the temple.
\u5f53\u4f60\u53bb\u8d3e\u683c\u7eb3\u7279\u00b7\u666e\u745e\u65f6\uff0c\u522b\u5fd8\u4e86\u54c1\u5c1d\u4e00\u4e9b\u4e3b\u8d3e\u683c\u7eb3\u7279\u7684\u666e\u6c99\u5f97\u3002\u4f60\u53ef\u80fd\u9700\u8981\u4ed8\u7ed9\u67d0\u4eba\u4e00\u4e9b\u5362\u6bd4\u8ba9\u4ed6\u4eec\u5e2e\u4f60\u5f97\u5230\uff0c\u56e0\u4e3a\u53ea\u6709\u571f\u751f\u571f\u957f\u7684\u5370\u5ea6\u6559\u5f92\u624d\u80fd\u8fdb\u5165\u5e99\u91cc\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lord Chaitanya went every day to visit his devotee Haridas Thakur. Haridas, though a great devotee, could not enter the Jagannath temple because of his birth in a Muslim family.
\u4e3b\u67f4\u5766\u5c3c\u4e9a\u6bcf\u5929\u90fd\u4f1a\u53bb\u770b\u671b\u4ed6\u7684\u5949\u732e\u8005\u54c8\u91cc\u8fbe\u65af\u00b7\u5854\u5e93\u5c14\u3002\u5c3d\u7ba1\u54c8\u91cc\u8fbe\u65af\u662f\u4e00\u4f4d\u4f1f\u5927\u7684\u5949\u732e\u8005\uff0c\u4f46\u7531\u4e8e\u4ed6\u51fa\u751f\u5728\u4e00\u4e2a\u7a46\u65af\u6797\u5bb6\u5ead\uff0c\u6240\u4ee5\u4e0d\u80fd\u8fdb\u5165\u8d3e\u683c\u7eb3\u7279\u5e99\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Krishna himself, as Lord Chaitanya, would go to see his dedicated servant Haridas. Therefore devotees say that Haridas could not go to see Jagannath, but Jagannath would go to see Haridas.
\u4f46\u594e\u5e08\u90a3\u672c\u4eba\uff0c\u4f5c\u4e3a\u4e3b\u67f4\u5766\u5c3c\u4e9a\uff0c\u4f1a\u53bb\u770b\u671b\u4ed6\u5fe0\u8bda\u7684\u4ec6\u4eba\u54c8\u91cc\u8fbe\u65af\u3002\u56e0\u6b64\uff0c\u5949\u732e\u8005\u4eec\u8bf4\uff0c\u54c8\u91cc\u8fbe\u65af\u4e0d\u80fd\u53bb\u770b\u8d3e\u683c\u7eb3\u7279\uff0c\u4f46\u8d3e\u683c\u7eb3\u7279\u4f1a\u53bb\u770b\u54c8\u91cc\u8fbe\u65af\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a Toothbrush to a Tree
\u4ece\u7259\u5237\u6210\u4e3a\u6811<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After receiving the bakul toothbrush, Lord Chaitanya went to Haridas\u2019s place and planted the toothbrush in the ground. Soon the twig grew into a tall straight tree offering shade where Haridas often sat to chant Hare Krishna.
\u6536\u5230\u5df4\u5e93\u62c9\u7259\u5237\u540e\uff0c\u4e3b\u67f4\u5766\u5c3c\u4e9a\u53bb\u4e86\u54c8\u91cc\u8fbe\u65af\u7684\u5730\u65b9\uff0c\u628a\u7259\u5237\u79cd\u5728\u5730\u91cc\u3002\u5f88\u5feb\uff0c\u6811\u679d\u957f\u6210\u4e86\u4e00\u68f5\u9ad8\u5927\u8038\u76f4\u7684\u6811\uff0c\u4e3a\u54c8\u91cc\u8fbe\u65af\u7ecf\u5e38\u5750\u7740\u5531\u8bf5\u54c8\u745e\u00b7\u594e\u5e08\u90a3\u63d0\u4f9b\u4e86\u9634\u51c9\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Haridas left this world, a devotee named Jagannath Swami lived at that place. Once, as the time for Jagannath\u2019s chariot festival approached, the king\u2019s men came to cut down the tree to make wheels for Jagannath\u2019s\u00a0 chariot.
\u54c8\u91cc\u8fbe\u65af\u79bb\u5f00\u8fd9\u4e2a\u4e16\u754c\u540e\uff0c\u4e00\u4f4d\u540d\u53eb\u8d3e\u683c\u7eb3\u7279\u00b7\u65af\u74e6\u7c73\u7684\u5949\u732e\u8005\u4f4f\u5728\u90a3\u91cc\u3002\u6709\u4e00\u6b21\uff0c\u968f\u7740\u8d3e\u683c\u7eb3\u7279\u6218\u8f66\u8282\u7684\u4e34\u8fd1\uff0c\u56fd\u738b\u7684\u4eba\u6765\u780d\u6811\u505a\u6218\u8f66\u8f6e\u5b50\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo not cut down this tree,\u201d the swami told them. \u201cIt is a holy tree, planted by Lord Chaitanya and used by Haridas.\u201d
\u201c\u4e0d\u8981\u780d\u8fd9\u68f5\u6811\uff0c\u201d\u65af\u74e6\u7c73\u544a\u8bc9\u4ed6\u4eec\uff0c\u201c\u8fd9\u662f\u4e00\u68f5\u795e\u5723\u7684\u6811\uff0c\u662f\u7531\u4e3b\u67f4\u5766\u5c3c\u4e9a\u79cd\u4e0b\uff0c\u800c\u4e14\u670d\u52a1\u4e86\u54c8\u91cc\u8fbe\u65af\u3002\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Tree Without Wood
\u6ca1\u6709\u6728\u5934\u7684\u6811<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To no avail. The next day the king\u2019s men \u00a0came to cut down the tree. But they stopped when they saw a miracle. The tall straight tree had now bent over, winding along the ground. On the bent section, the tree had partly cracked open, revealing a hollow inside covered only with a layer of bark. It would yield no wood.
\u6ca1\u6709\u7528\u3002\u7b2c\u4e8c\u5929\uff0c\u56fd\u738b\u7684\u4eba\u6765\u780d\u6811\u3002\u4f46\u4ed6\u4eec\u505c\u4e86\u4e0b\u6765\uff0c\u56e0\u4e3a\u4ed6\u4eec\u770b\u5230\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u5947\u8ff9\u3002\u90a3\u68f5\u9ad8\u5927\u76f4\u7acb\u7684\u6811\u73b0\u5728\u5f2f\u66f2\u5728\u5730\u9762\u4e0a\u3002\u5728\u5f2f\u66f2\u7684\u90e8\u5206\uff0c\u6811\u8eab\u90e8\u5206\u88c2\u5f00\uff0c\u9732\u51fa\u91cc\u9762\u7684\u7a7a\u6d1e\uff0c\u53ea\u6709\u4e00\u5c42\u6811\u76ae\u8986\u76d6\u3002\u5b83\u65e0\u6cd5\u518d\u7528\u4f5c\u6728\u6750
\u4e86\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shouldn\u2019t it have died in that condition? But no. It had all the signs of life, leaves and all.
\u5728\u90a3\u79cd\u60c5\u51b5\u4e0b\u5b83\u4e0d\u662f\u5e94\u8be5\u6b7b\u4e86\u5417\uff1f\u4f46\u6ca1\u6709\u3002\u5b83\u4ecd\u7136\u6709\u751f\u547d\u7684\u8ff9\u8c61\uff0c\u6709\u53f6\u5b50\u7b49\u7b49\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hollow tree still lives. Every year in\u00a0 April, on the anniversary of the planting, the locals hold a festival called Planting the Toothbrush Tree. They bathe the tree with 108 pots of water and sing songs to glorify Lord Chaitanya and his devotees like Haridas Thakur.
\u7a7a\u5fc3\u7684\u6811\u4ecd\u7136\u6d3b\u7740\u3002\u6bcf\u5e74\u56db\u6708\uff0c\u5728\u79cd\u690d\u5468\u5e74\u7eaa\u5ff5\u65e5\uff0c\u5f53\u5730\u4eba\u4f1a\u4e3e\u884c\u4e00\u4e2a\u540d\u4e3a\u201c\u79cd\u690d\u7259\u5237\u6811\u201d\u7684\u8282\u65e5\u3002\u4ed6\u4eec\u4f1a\u7528 108 \u7f50\u6c34\u7ed9\u6811\u6c90\u6d74\uff0c\u5e76\u5531\u8d5e\u7f8e\u4e3b\u67f4\u5766\u5c3c\u4e9a\u548c\u4ed6\u50cf\u54c8\u91cc\u8fbe\u65af\u00b7\u5854\u5e93\u5c14\u8fd9\u822c\u7684\u5949\u732e\u8005\u7684\u6b4c\u66f2\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you go to Jagannath Puri, you too can offer obeisances to the Siddha Bakul tree. You can also go to the\u00a0samadhi<\/em>\u00a0or resting place of Haridas Thakur. The samadhi also encompasses a complete temple.
\u5f53\u4f60\u53bb\u8d3e\u683c\u7eb3\u7279\u00b7\u666e\u745e\u65f6\uff0c\u4f60\u4e5f\u53ef\u4ee5\u5411\u5e0c\u8fbe\u00b7\u5df4\u5e93\u62c9\u6811\u81f4\u656c\u3002\u4f60\u4e5f\u53ef\u4ee5\u53bb\u54c8\u91cc\u8fbe\u65af\u00b7\u5854\u5e93\u5c14\u7684\u8428\u9a6c\u8fea\u6216\u4ed6\u4f11\u606f\u7684\u5730\u65b9\u3002\u8428\u9a6c\u8fea\u4e5f\u5305\u62ec\u4e00\u5ea7\u5b8c\u6574\u7684\u5e99\u5b87\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each time I went there, my eye stopped at a picture on the wall. How nice to find myself in India looking at a photo of Radha and Vrindaban Chandra, the\u00a0 deities in ISKCON\u2019s temple in West Virginia, U.S.A.
\u6bcf\u6b21\u6211\u53bb\u90a3\u91cc\uff0c\u6211\u7684\u76ee\u5149\u603b\u4f1a\u505c\u7559\u5728\u5899\u4e0a\u7684\u4e00\u5f20\u7167\u7247\u4e0a\u3002\u5f53\u6211\u5728\u5370\u5ea6\uff0c\u770b\u5230\u7f8e\u56fd\u897f\u5f17\u5409\u5c3c\u4e9a\u5dde ISKCON \u5e99\u7684\u795e\u50cf\u8339\u963f\u8fbe\u548c\u6e29\u8fbe\u73ed\u00b7\u7985\u5353\u7684\u7167\u7247\u65f6\uff0c\u611f\u89c9\u771f\u662f\u592a\u597d\u4e86\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first time I went to Jagannath Puri, the samadhi-temple stood on the beach.\u00a0 The second time I went, I found it a little farther back. But no one had moved the samadhi. The edge of the sea had moved itself, as seacoasts often do.
\u6211\u7b2c\u4e00\u6b21\u53bb\u8d3e\u683c\u7eb3\u7279\u00b7\u666e\u745e\u65f6\uff0c\u8428\u9a6c\u8fea\u5e99\u5c31\u5750\u843d\u5728\u6d77\u6ee9\u4e0a\u3002\u7b2c\u4e8c\u6b21\u53bb\u65f6\uff0c\u6211\u53d1\u73b0\u5b83\u7a0d\u5fae\u5f80\u540e\u4e86\u4e00\u4e9b\u3002\u4f46\u6ca1\u6709\u4eba\u79fb\u52a8\u8fc7\u8428\u9a6c\u8fea\u3002\u6d77\u7684\u8fb9\u7f18\u81ea\u5df1\u79fb\u52a8\u4e86\uff0c\u5c31\u50cf\u6d77\u5cb8\u7ebf\u7ecf\u5e38\u505a\u7684\u90a3\u6837\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I could say more about trees and Krishna, but the topic knows no limits. But I\u2019ll say this: I don\u2019t take trees for granted any more, not even a tiny fig seed.
